In a significant development that has sent shockwaves through the Punjabi music industry, Balkaur Singh, father of late superstar Sidhu Moosewala, has filed a formal complaint with Punjab Police’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AS Rai against prominent music producer Bunty Bains and two associates—Gurpreet Singh Bhasin and Shabbir Momin—alleging financial improprieties involving his son’s posthumous earnings.

The Allegations

According to sources, the complaint filed on August 9, 2025, names Bunty Bains along with Gurpreet Singh Bhasin and Shabbir Momin—who is reportedly the owner of One Digital Pact Pvt Limited—in connection with alleged financial irregularities involving revenue from Sidhu Moosewala’s music catalogue. The company had been managing Sidhu’s content for his family’s company, 5911 Records Pvt Ltd, owned by his father Balkaur Singh and mother, Charan Kaur.

The complaint reportedly reveals that the total earnings from various digital platforms since Sidhu Moosewala’s death amount to approximately 1.15 crore USD (roughly ₹96 crores). According to the family’s claims, while One Digital Pact Pvt Limited has paid over 70 lakh USD (approximately ₹58.5 crores) to the parents in instalments since the singer’s death in May 2022, a substantial amount of 37.67 lakh USD (approximately ₹31.5 crores) remains pending, which forms the central issue of this complaint.

Balkaur Singh has reportedly cited significant discrepancies and a lack of transparency in the final settlement of his son’s song earnings since the artist’s tragic death in May 2022. The family allegedly claims that while One Digital Pact Pvt Limited has made partial payments over the past three years, the remaining 37.67 lakh USD represents their rightful share that has been withheld without proper justification or transparent accounting for the delay.

This pending amount represents roughly one-third of the total claimed earnings, highlighting the significant financial stakes involved in the case.

Response from Accused Parties

Bunty Bains, a well-known figure in the Punjabi music industry who had professional associations with Moosewala, has responded to the allegations through both his official Instagram account and subsequent media interviews.

In his detailed Instagram statement, Bains addressed Balkaur Singh directly, stating: “I agree with you on every right point. From day 1, my company has never charged you or your company for management responsibilities.” He emphasized that his role was purely service-oriented and that he arranged for One Digital’s services with complete transparency, ensuring that 100% revenue would go directly to the Sidhu family’s company, 5911 Records Pvt Ltd as per signed agreements.

Bains revealed that when engaging One Digital Pact Pvt Limited as the content management company, he involved “a well-educated woman from the Sidhu family” to review agreements beforehand, ensuring transparency in the arrangement. He stated that proper agreements were signed to ensure 100% revenue would flow directly from One Digital to the family’s company, preventing any confusion between the parties.

Addressing the social media backlash, Bains expressed concern about the impact on his family, stating that people were calling him a fraud despite there being “no financial transactions between you and me or my company and your company.” He emphasized that his services have always been provided without charge since day one.

Bains defended his professional integrity, referencing his career from his 1998 debut to his recent EP “Proud Jawani,” stating he has always earned through his own talent and hard work. He categorically denied any involvement in what he termed “petty and disgusting acts.”

In his media interviews, Bains further claimed that he remains supportive of the Sidhu family and had discussed the details with Balkaur Singh before the complaint was filed. He acknowledged that Balkaur Singh “is right in claiming his amount” and explained that while One Digital continues making partial payments of the remaining 37.67 lakh USD, the family prefers a lump sum settlement rather than installments.

Bains expressed his readiness to present his side of the case before SSP Mansa, though he noted that the case has not yet been officially received by the SSP’s office.

Gurpreet Singh Bhasin and Shabbir Momin have not yet issued public statements regarding the allegations.

Police Response and Next Steps

According to sources, the complaint has been forwarded by ADGP AS Rai to the SSP Mansa for further action, though as of the latest reports, the case has not yet been officially received by the SSP’s office. The matter is currently in the process of being transferred through official channels.

Sources suggest that if the allegations are found to have merit during the initial assessment, a formal investigation could be launched involving financial audits of One Digital Pact Pvt Limited and the individuals named in the complaint, including company owner Shabbir Momin, along with Bains and Bhasin.
